I will be in Breuil-Cervinia (Italy) until April 30th. I will go home (Genova, Italy) on the same day the contract ends. Can’t wait!

May

On May 3rd I am leaving to Amsterdam for 6 days.

Coming back on May 9th, landing in Milan and staying at a friend’s place for a couple of nights.

Then, off to Bologna for the BlogVille Apartment blog trip: http://www.blogville-emiliaromagna.com/ Excited! I will be there on May 14th to 16th.

Then, I will stay in Bologna for the weekend at a friend’s place.

Update:

Unfortunately I won’t be able to join the BlogVille trip as my blog trip to Saint Vincent and Grenadines in the Caribbean was confirmed! I am sorry for not being able to be in Bologna but I am also very much excited about this new plan. Read all about it here and here! 

After that I want to meet another friend in the Italian Region of Abruzzo – ever heard of it? Well you should check it out as it’s amazingly beautiful and not too touristy yet!

Also I want to pay a visit to L’Aquila, a city that was destroyed by an earthquake 3 years ago and has been off limits for photographers for a long time. Here I come!

June to August

Last but not least, I finally decided I am going back to Egypt for the summer. Yes I know it will be boiling hot but I was too confused about the monsoon in India. Someone told me it was no-go and someone else told me it’s not a big deal. So you know what? I am going to Egypt to wait for the monsoon season to be over.

Relax on the Red Sea and some work in Cairo coming up. And because I am tired after the long season at work, it sounds just perfect to me!

I had this crazy idea of going to Egypt from Turkey by land, but it’s looking harder than I thought. So we’ll see!

Sometimes I google myself – admit it, you all do.

I do so to keep track of all the posts I wrote around other websites, as I keep failing in keeping a portfolio or at least a directory of what I wrote for whom. But this is on my (slightly endless) “to-do” list.

I once discovered a photo by me was published on the Telegraph website, and I also found out I got the third place at a photography competition. I didn’t win anything, but still.

In an effort to get some insight as to what travel is like right now in Egypt, and whether it is in fact safe given the recent political turmoil and much-publicized detaining of three Americans (one of whom is Transportion Secretary Ray LaHood’s son) who were working in Egypt for a U.S.-funded pro-democracy group, friend of The Expeditioner DowntownTraveler.com enlisted the help of local Italian Giulia Cimarosti to give us the skinny.

In response to the question of whether the tumult in Tahrir Square is indicitive of the rest of the country, Giulia pointed out that “[e]veryone must know that whatever happens in Tahrir Square, the rest of Cairo and — most of all — the rest of Egypt is perfectly safe. This doesn’t mean that the protests are not important, but tourism-wise there are no complications at all.”

It’s time for recaps and New Year’s resolutions, and I can’t say I don’t have plans for the upcoming year!

May you travel to the destinations you’ve always dreamed of, snap the perfect shot that will make you proud and hopefully famous. May you keep the explorer’s spirit and never stop being amazed by the world. May you learn something new every day and never stop adding plans to your life.

I’m always with Tahrir and I hope the situation in Egypt will improve soon. Every day I miss Cairo and keep track of the situation.

Hi all,

as some of you might know I recently relocated to a place called Breuil-Cervinia, in Northern Italy, right on the border with Switzerland.

This doesn’t mean I can easily get to the nearby Country because there are some 4000mt high mountains in between! So I’ll probably end up staying on the Italian side, you know. :)

Everything is going smoothly for now, we have a looot of snow so please consider this place if you are thinking about skiing in Italy! It’s a beautiful and charming place, and I am working in a beautiful hotel so I wouldn’t mind asking for a good travel blogger rate! :)

Dear all,

Here I am, back from Egypt (again!) and with so many things to write about! Just to name a few:

• - I joined the volunteers team of “Characters of Egypt” Festival again. This festival is basically an annual gathering of all the tribes from all over Egypt, which camp together for 3 nights. We camped on an island on the Nile next to Aswan. The island is called Heisa and there are also Nubian families living on it. It was definitely an amazing experience!
• - I visited the 57357 Children Cancer Hospital in Cairo, Egypt. It is an amazingly modern and beautiful building, but the experience was also very tough. I will tell you more soon, and share photos about that day too.
• - I witnessed the situation in Egypt now, about 9 months after the Egyptian Revolution. Atmosphere was definitely different, but it was great to be back and see my friends again anyway!
• - I didn’t end up in South America as planned. I’m broke. That’s why I am going to work in Italy for a few more months (precisely until April 2012) and then… surprise surprise. I can’t tell you now because I don’t like to tempt faith, you know. :)
• - I witnessed Eid el Adha in Cairo – in this feast, people slaughter cows and sheep on the street. You don’t wanna see that. I saw that. Okay I will show you the pics.
• - One day I went to a cafe in Cairo, opened a magazine and found a photo by me. Yes, there was a clear “photo by Giulia Cimarosti” credit underneath. It was such a surprise!
• - Last but not least, I finally broke the 100k line on Alexa ranking! A new thing for me and I am happy + excited.
